The Making of a Sex Symbol Monroe’s rise to fame coincided with a post-war America that was reasserting traditional gender roles. Her image was carefully crafted to appeal to male fantasies: innocent yet seductive, playful yet submissive. Her early nude photographs, which surfaced during her ascent to stardom, did not derail her career – instead, they cemented her status as a sex symbol. All AquaQuell filters feature three-stage filtration (stages 2 to 4 in the diagram), designed to significantly reduce carbonate hardness in water and prevent scale deposits. Unwanted odours and off tastes, as well as chlorine and heavy metals that impair the aroma and appearance of food and drink are also removed and the filter safely retains any coarse and fine particles. Purity C and Purity also incorporate a pre-filter (stage 1 in the diagram), which enables the filter to work just as effectively whether placed upright or on its side. 1. Pre-filtration – Pre-filtration fabric reliably retains coarse particles, such as sand. 2. Carbonate hardness reduction – the PURITY Quell ST filter medium specifically reduces carbonate hardness. This helps to prevent unwanted scale build-up. 3. Activated carbon filtration – all the water – including the by-pass water – runs through a BRITA activated carbon filter. This removes unpleasant tastes and odours. 4. Fine filtration – at the end of the filtration process, a fine filter retains particles as small as 10 μm (except AC1000, which filters down to 0.5 μm). In addition, there is also an activated carbon filter in the range, offering filtration down to 0.5 μm., and a Purity C service cartridge, enabling quick and easy machine sanitisation. Head options include fixed and variable bypass; 3/8” threaded and 8mm push-fit ports. Purity C1100 is recommended for larger use machines, with a capacity up to 11,500 litres. AquaQuell Purity C AquaQuell Purity is specially designed for use in coffee and espresso machines and catering applications. It combines large capacity filters with a digital display head which controls features such as variable bypass and counts down the remaining capacity of the filter based on the parameters input. A non-display head is also available for the Purity 600 and 1200 systems. NOTE: The Purity 450 pressure vessel was discontinued in 2012. Replacement cartridges are still available. But machines often have only one boiler. THE SOLUTION: bringing hi-tech to the world of hot beverage machines is this memory-alloy actuated mixer valve. It acts as both sensor and actuator without the need for any other electro-mechanical aid and blends hot and cold water to a pre-set temperature. HOW IT WORKS The smart memory-alloy actuator spring is responsive to temperature; when there is no hot water (the boiler outlet valve is closed) the bias spring keeps the cold water path closed too.
